The Ferm Living Bird Hand-carved Magnets are three small carved birds, hand-painted so that each one carries its own character. Subtle yet expressive, they bring a playful detail to a fridge door or any other magnetic surface, shaped by natural materials and the human touch.
The set is carved from FSC certified aspen wood, certificate FSC 100% PBN-COC-071313, and comes in a Multi colourway. Together the three birds measure 9 cm wide, 8 cm high and 6 cm deep, weighing 0.07 kg in total. Wipe them with a dry cloth. As the magnets are hand-carved and hand-painted, small variations may occur.
Use them to hold up drawings and notes, and add other small wooden pieces from the Ferm Living collection.

Hand-carved Magnets: painted aspen for the fridge door
DesignerFerm Living design studio
Ferm Living's Hand-carved Magnets come in sets of three, each piece carved from FSC™-certified aspen and painted by hand. Choose Poesie, Bird or Forest motifs. Because every magnet is shaped and painted by hand, no two share quite the same form or finish.

Each one is different
Hand carving and hand painting give every magnet its own character.
Certified natural wood
The aspen carries FSC™ 100% certification.
Any magnetic surface works
Use them on a fridge door, a magnetic board or a steel cabinet.
Small gift, real craft
A set of three makes a modest present that still shows the maker's hand.
Carved from soft aspen
Aspen is a light, even-grained wood that carves cleanly, which suits small figures. Each magnet is cut and shaped by hand, then painted, so the brush leaves slight differences from piece to piece.
Three families of motifs
Poesie celebrates natural form in three subtly different shapes, about 8 x 7.5 x 22.5 cm as a set. Bird gathers three small carved birds, and Forest brings a cheerful woodland detail to the fridge door.
Variation is part of it
Because the magnets are hand-carved and hand-painted, small variations in shape and colour are expected. They are meant to be looked at up close, holding a note or a drawing in place.
Materials
- Aspen wood
- FSC™-certified aspen, light and easy to carve into small forms.
- Hand-applied paint
- Colour is painted on by hand, so tones differ slightly between pieces.
- Dry care
- Wipe with a dry cloth; keep the painted wood away from water.
Ferm Living was founded in Copenhagen in 2006 by Trine Andersen, and its collections are developed by the brand's in-house design studio there. The Hand-carved Magnets sit in the kids' range, where the studio often turns natural motifs such as birds and forest life into small objects made by hand.
Using it at home
How many magnets are in a set?
Three, in each of the Poesie, Bird and Forest versions.
Why does my set look slightly different from the photos?
Each magnet is hand-carved and hand-painted, so small variations in shape and colour occur.
How do I clean them?
Wipe with a dry cloth. Do not soak or wash the painted wood.
Where can I use them?
On a fridge door or any other magnetic surface.
Can I combine the sets?
Yes. All three share the same aspen and hand-painted finish, so they sit well together on one surface.
