The Ferm Living Dae Lampshade draws on the ethereal beauty of the Pieridae butterfly chrysalis. Its organic, translucent form softly diffuses the light into a warm, gentle glow, bringing an artistic expression to a hallway, a dining area or a bedroom.
The shade is built from a powder coated iron structure with a sprayed-on polymer skin that scatters the light, in White. It measures 49 x 48 x 49 cm and weighs 1.1 kg. Carefully wipe it with a dry cloth. A light bulb and a fabric cord set are not included.
Suspend it over a table with other lighting from the Ferm Living collection.

Dae draws on the Pieridae butterfly chrysalis. A powder-coated iron frame is covered with a sprayed-on, non-woven polymer skin, so the organic shade glows with a warm, gentle light. The series includes a 42 cm table lamp and a 50 cm pendant lampshade.

Inspired by a chrysalis
The chrysalis of the Pieridae butterfly is the starting point for Dae. The irregular, cocoon-like shade is part lamp, part sculpture, and it brings an organic line to a hallway, dining area or bedroom.
How the shade is made
A powder-coated iron structure gives the shape. A polymer skin is sprayed on top, creating a thin, translucent surface that scatters the light. Over time the shade patinates gently, so each lamp changes with use.
Two ways to use Dae
The Dae Table Lamp is Ø22 x H42 cm, with an E14 socket, an on/off switch and a 2.6 metre fabric cable. The Dae Lampshade 50 measures 49 x 48 x 49 cm and is used with an E27 LED bulb and a separate fabric cord set.

Ferm Living was founded in Copenhagen in 2006 by graphic designer Trine Andersen, who started out because she was missing wallpaper designs for her new house. Dae is a Ferm Living studio design and a registered design, created as a light that also works as a sculptural object.
