The Ferm Living Koh Centrepiece is a sculptural table piece with a bold, brutalist expression. Its burned surface treatment adds depth, texture and character, and the rich natural variation of the wood means that every piece turns out slightly different.
It is carved from FSC certified pinewood with the FSC 100% certification, built up from five glued sections that are then hand carved, burned and stained, and measures 35 x 6 x 4 cm in Dark Brown. Wipe with a dry cloth, as the surface is delicate and should be handled with care. The centrepiece is decorative and is not intended for direct food contact.
Run it down the middle of a dining table with low candles, or place it on a console beside ceramics from the Ferm Living collection.

Koh: a burned pine centrepiece carved from five pieces
DesignerFerm Living design studio
The Koh Centrepiece is a 35 cm sculptural table piece with a bold, brutalist expression. Five pieces of FSC™-certified pinewood are glued, hand carved, burned and dark stained, so the surface gains depth and texture and every piece turns out slightly different.

Every piece is unique
Grain, carving and burning vary from one centrepiece to the next.
Bold, brutalist form
A heavy, carved shape that anchors a table.
Burned for depth
Fire treatment darkens and textures the wood.
FSC™-certified solid pinewood
Made from FSC™-certified pine.
Built from five sections
Each Koh Centrepiece starts as five pieces of FSC™-certified pinewood, glued together into one block. The block is then carved by hand into its sculptural form, about 35 cm long and 6.5 cm high.
Fire and stain
After carving, the surface is burned and dark stained. Burning chars the surface and brings out the grain, adding depth and texture, and the stain deepens the colour to Dark Brown.
A focal point
Place Koh at the centre of a dining or coffee table, or on a sideboard with candles and books around it. It is decorative only and not meant for direct contact with food. Koh also includes wall and standing cabinets.
Materials
- FSC™-certified pinewood
- Five glued sections give the block its size and stability.
- Burned surface
- Adds depth and texture; the surface is delicate, so handle with care.
- Dark stain
- Finishes the colour; wipe only with a dry cloth.
Ferm Living was founded in Copenhagen in 2006 by Trine Andersen, and its collections are developed by the brand's in-house design studio there. Koh is a studio series with a raw, brutalist character. Besides this centrepiece it includes wall and standing cabinets.
