The Shell Pot merges natural forms with contemporary design, simple and sculptural all at once. Filled with a few favourite small flowers or displayed on its own, it adds a delicate detail to a shelf, a windowsill or a bedside table.
This smaller version is made from stoneware, unglazed on the outside for a matte surface and glazed on the inside. It measures 23 x 16 x 11.5 cm and comes in Off-white. Rinse it in lukewarm water.
Set it on a console with a few stems, or group it with the extra small size and other pots from the Ferm Living collection.

Shell: stoneware shaped like a nautilus shell
DesignerFerm Living design studio
Shell is a Ferm Living series in stoneware that borrows its curving, spiralling form from a nautilus shell. The pots, vase and wall candle holder pair a matte, unglazed surface with a glazed one, merging a natural shape with clean contemporary design.

Shaped by the sea
The spiral form of a nautilus shell gives each piece its outline.
Matte meets glaze
Unglazed and glazed surfaces contrast on every piece.
Sizes for every shelf
Pots run from a tiny 11 cm to a 31 cm centrepiece.
Candlelight on the wall
The wall holder's curved lip cradles a candle.
A nautilus in clay
The Shell Pot takes the spiral of a nautilus shell and turns it into a vessel. Its curved, sculptural form looks good with a few small flowers or a plant, or simply on its own on a shelf, windowsill or bedside table.
Three pots and a vase
The Shell Pot comes 31 cm wide, 23 cm and an extra small 11 cm, all matte outside and glazed inside. The Shell Vase is a taller, spacious sibling at 26.5 cm, made for a weekend bouquet.
Light from a shell
The Shell Wall Candle Holder hangs on the wall like a seashell. Unglazed underneath and glazed on top, its curved lip at the base cradles the candle and throws soft light across a bedside wall, a dining room or a hallway.

Ferm Living was founded in Copenhagen in 2006 by graphic designer Trine Andersen, who started out because she was missing wallpaper designs for her new house. Shell was developed by the Ferm Living design studio in Copenhagen, starting with the Shell Pot and growing into a vase and a wall candle holder. The Shell Vase is a registered design.
Using it at home
Can I plant directly in the Shell Pot?
It is glazed inside and made for small flowers or display; for a living plant, use an inner pot.
How do I clean the pots and vase?
Rinse in lukewarm water.
Which sizes of Shell Pot are there?
31 x 20 cm, 23 x 16 cm and the extra small 11 x 8 cm.
Do Shell pieces work together?
Yes, they share one shape and Off-white colour, so pots, vase and holder group well on a shelf or wall.
What is the pot made of?
Stoneware, unglazed outside for a matte feel and glazed inside.
