The Toky series takes its cue from the Japanese Kurinuki technique, where a form is carved out of a single block of clay. The result is an organic shape with a tactile, handcrafted expression, finished with a carefully applied glaze that brings out the contrasting surface textures.
The Toky Cup is made from glazed stoneware, holds 25 cl, measures 8 x 9 x 8 cm and comes in Cream and Dark Buff. As each piece is handcrafted, variations may occur. Dishwasher-safe.
Reach for it for tea or coffee, and set it alongside other Toky pieces from the Ferm Living collection.

Toky: stoneware cups and bowls in the Kurinuki manner
DesignerFerm Living design studio
Toky takes its cue from Kurinuki, the Japanese technique of carving a form out of a single block of clay. The result is an organic shape with a tactile, handmade feel, finished in a carefully applied glaze that brings out contrasting textures. Espresso cup, cup and bowl come in Cream and Dark Buff.

Carved, not thrown
The Kurinuki approach gives each piece a sculpted feel.
Safe in the dishwasher
Every Toky piece is dishwasher safe.
Textures that contrast
Glaze meets raw-looking clay on the surface.
Sizes for every drink
Espresso, tea or coffee, and a small bowl.

Carved from a block
In Kurinuki, the potter starts with a solid block of clay and carves the form out of it, instead of throwing it on a wheel. Toky draws on this way of working, so each cup and bowl has an organic shape that sits naturally in the hand.

Glaze and texture
A carefully applied glaze brings out the contrast between smoother and more textured areas of the surface. Because every piece is handcrafted, glaze and form vary slightly between cups.

Three sizes, two glazes
The espresso cup holds 11 cl, the cup 25 cl and the Ø13 cm bowl 50 cl, enough for small dishes, rice or treasured objects. All three come in Cream and Dark Buff, and every piece is dishwasher safe.
