Grand Cru Barware: the 1993 wine stopper and its home bar

Grand Cru began in 1993 with Erik Bagger's wine stopper in steel and black, and the bar range has grown around it. Today it covers wine stoppers and pourers, a corkscrew and opener, and a mirror polished steel shaker, jigger, stirring spoon, ice bucket, wine cooler and Champagne bucket.

Thirty years of Grand Cru
In 1993 Erik Bagger's first project with Rosendahl became the Grand Cru wine stopper. It was the start of a series that has since grown into a wide range of functional classics, and in 2023 the stopper and pourer were honoured with a patinated anniversary edition.
Tools for wine
The leak-proof stopper and the pourer are steel with silicone. Tom Nybroe, designer and wine expert, created the 24 cm pouring, aerating and decanting stopper, whose length and holes are aligned to aerate the wine. A cast metal corkscrew with soft-touch legs gives a firm grip.
Tools for the bar
The mirror polished shaker has a lid that doubles as a measure, joined by a 2/4 cl jigger and a 31 cm stirring spoon. A 16 cm ice bucket, a 22.5 cm wine cooler and a 33 cm Champagne bucket with leather handles keep drinks cold on the table or the terrace.
Materials
- Mirror polished stainless steel
- A high-gloss finish on the shaker, jigger, spoon and buckets. The shaker, jigger and spoon are dishwasher safe; the buckets and cooler are not and should not be polished.
- Steel and silicone
- The stoppers and pourers seal with silicone; wash them by hand, not in the dishwasher.
- Cast zinc alloy
- The chrome-plated corkscrew handle is solid cast metal, and soft-touch legs give a firm grip on bottle and tool.
Erik Bagger trained as a goldsmith in 1970 and worked for Georg Jensen before going on to design on his own. His collaboration with Rosendahl began in 1993 with the Grand Cru wine stopper. Later pieces in the bar range come from Rosendahl and from designer and wine expert Tom Nybroe.
Using it at home
Can Grand Cru Barware go in the dishwasher?
The shaker, jigger and stirring spoon are dishwasher safe. Wash stoppers, pourers, the corkscrew, the buckets and the wine cooler by hand.
How long does wine keep with the stopper?
The stopper is leak-proof and extends the life of an opened bottle, and it lasts even longer if you keep the bottle in the fridge.
What does the aerating pourer do?
It increases the wine's surface as you pour, letting the bouquet develop, and prevents drips from the bottle.
Does the shaker have a measure?
Yes. The shaker's lid can be used as a measuring cup, and the jigger measures 2 and 4 cl.
Which bucket should I use?
The 22.5 cm wine cooler keeps one bottle cold at the table, the 33 cm Champagne bucket takes Champagne or white wine on ice, and the 16 cm ice bucket holds ice for drinks.
