The Unikko Plate is cut to the outline of the poppy itself, so the flower becomes the shape of the plate rather than a print on it. Unikko dates from 1964, when Maija Isola set out to bring flowers into a Marimekko range dominated by abstract prints, and it now stands for creativity.
Made in Thailand from 100% white stoneware with a chestnut-coloured glaze, the plate measures 20 cm across and is food safe. It comes in Chestnut and arrives in a Marimekko logo-pattern box. Washing by hand is recommended to keep the glaze at its best.
Use it for a small main course or cake, and layer it with the 9 cm version and other pieces from the Marimekko collection.
