Poul Henningsen developed the three-shade system in 1925-1926 for an exhibition in Paris, collaborating with Louis Poulsen to create glare-free, diffused light through a logarithmic spiral design. This concept resulted in around a thousand models, including the PH 2/1 Pendant. Featuring a 20 cm top shade with smaller lower shades, it is designed for lower installation heights while providing even illumination. The PH 2/1 Pendant remains a timeless example of PH's scientific approach to lighting.
