The VL 38 Table Lamp descends from a single celebrated building: Radiohuset, the Danish Broadcasting House that Vilhelm Lauritzen designed as a total work of art, its lighting developed with Louis Poulsen. Where Poul Henningsen pursued mathematically layered shades, Lauritzen favoured soft, organic silhouettes — the VL 38's gently rounded, tiltable shade and slender curved brass stem capture that warmer side of Danish modernism, relaunched in 2016 with a built-in LED.
As a working light it is remarkably easy to live with: a calm, glare-free pool of light on a desk or bedside table, and a small piece of sculpture when switched off. Pair it with the matching VL 38 from our wall lamps, or browse more table lamps.
