LUM 50 Table Lamp

The LUM 50 distils the sleek Bauhaus aesthetic into a compact form, introduced in 2010 by Ulf Möller for TECNOLUMEN. A 20 mm tubular-steel frame houses energy-efficient LEDs for bright yet glare-free light, and the horizontal element rotates 360° for different tasks or moods. Each piece is stamped "THONET by TECNOLUMEN".

The LUM 50 sits at the meeting point of two German design institutions. Thonet, famous since the 19th century for bentwood furniture and later for the tubular-steel modernism of the 1920s and 30s, lends the lamp its material language: a continuous bent steel tube, the same idea that defined the era's cantilever chairs. TECNOLUMEN, founded in Bremen in 1980 by Walter Schnepel to produce the authorised re-edition of Wilhelm Wagenfeld's WG 24, brings the manufacturing rigour — hence the "THONET by TECNOLUMEN" stamp on every numbered piece. Designer Ulf Möller's contribution was to translate this heritage into LED-era functionality without ornament or nostalgia.

In use, the LUM 50 is a precision tool: the rotating horizontal element swings the light exactly where you need it, from paperwork to keyboard to a warm wash across the desk's far edge.
