The Syksy Goblet sets a relief-textured bowl on a slender coloured stem, a design Matti Klenell drew for Marimekko in 2022. Each goblet is mouth-blown, so occasional air bubbles and small irregularities appear in the glass and no two pieces are quite alike.
Made from 100% mouth-blown glass in Thailand, the goblet stands 11.8 cm tall, measures 7.5 cm across and holds 2.5 dl. It is dishwasher safe and food safe, and arrives in a Marimekko logo-pattern box. Colourways include Clear / Red, Clear / Green, Misty Grey and Clear.
Use them for wine, water or dessert, and mix the colourways along the table with other glassware from the Marimekko collection.

Syksy: Matti Klenell's autumn rain in mouth-blown glass
DesignerMatti Klenell
Syksy is Finnish for autumn. Swedish designer Matti Klenell drew the series for Marimekko, and it launched in 2023. A sketch-like relief runs over the glass, following autumn rain from a light drizzle to a heavy downpour. The pieces are mouth-blown, so each one is slightly different.

Rain in relief
The textured surface catches the light as the glass turns.
Mouth-blown
Small bubbles and slight variations show each piece was made by hand.
A full table set
Goblets, tumblers, bowls, plates and a carafe share one pattern.
Mixes with Marimekko
The clear glass sits easily beside Oiva and other Marimekko tableware.

Weather as pattern
Marimekko has long turned nature and weather into print. Klenell took autumn rain as his theme and drew it as a relief. He says the series brings a touch of silent calm, perhaps even a little melancholy.

Ornament meets form
Klenell works with the interaction of flat ornament and three-dimensional shape. On Syksy the sketched lines wrap the curve of each piece, so the pattern changes as you turn the glass.

From water to wine
The 1.3 l carafe works as an everyday water jug or a wine carafe at dinner. The goblet on its coloured stem holds 2.5 dl. Bowls and 17 cm plates suit desserts, salads and small dishes.
Materials
- Mouth-blown glass
- Made in Thailand; bubbles and slight differences are part of the method.
- Relief surface
- Clean the texture with a soft brush or sponge so no marks stay in the lines.
- Coloured stem
- The goblet stem is coloured glass, set under a clear relief bowl.
Matti Klenell is a Swedish designer, born in 1972, who graduated from Konstfack, the Stockholm arts university, in 1999 and founded his studio in 2000. He has worked with Iittala, Offecct, Källemo and Marimekko, and has been named Designer of the Year in Sweden. His work is in several museum collections.
