A decorative pendant with a crystal-clear acrylic outer sphere and four white reflectors suspended on three steel chains. A splash of red, visible only from below, adds a classic Verner Panton touch.
The Panto pendant shows a quieter side of Verner Panton (1926–1998), the Danish designer better known for saturated colour and the space-age interiors of the late 1960s. Here his lifelong fascination with acrylic — a material he embraced when most Danish designers still worked in wood and brass — produces a lamp that is almost invisible until lit: a transparent sphere holding a stack of white reflectors that shield the bulb and shape the light. The hidden red accent underneath is pure Panton, a private joke revealed only to those sitting beneath it. Today the design is produced by VERPAN, the Danish lighting house dedicated to keeping Panton’s work in authentic production.
Because the outer sphere is transparent, the Panto Ø40 brings presence without visual weight — a real advantage over dining tables and kitchen islands in smaller apartments, where a solid pendant of the same size could overwhelm the room. Hang it low over the table so the red flash does its work, or use a pair over a longer counter. It pairs naturally with both mid-century interiors and crisp modern kitchens, and its layered reflectors keep the light soft and shadow-free across the table.
