Fun Pendant 0DM

Many regard the Fun collection as one of Verner Panton's greatest lighting masterpieces, sparking joy and imagination since 1964. The Fun 0DM is a large pendant with a striking four-ring chrome frame and cascading seashell discs that create a shimmering, elegant glow.

The Fun series of 1964 captures Verner Panton (1926–1998) at his most playful. Where his contemporaries refined wood and craft, Panton — once an assistant in Arne Jacobsen's studio — pursued sensory experience: colour, movement, even sound. Each Fun lamp is dressed in thin discs of natural mother-of-pearl, cut by hand and hung in overlapping curtains; they catch and fracture the light like water, and when air stirs them they answer with a delicate, chime-like rustle. No two shells are identical, so every lamp carries its own pattern of iridescence. The series remains in production with VERPAN, the Copenhagen company founded in 2003 solely to manufacture Panton's designs — you can see his lamps side by side in our VERPAN collection.

As the largest format in the family, the Fun 0DM is a true statement pendant: hang it over a dining table, in a stairwell or at the centre of a living room, where its four tiers can be appreciated in the round. The mother-of-pearl casts a warm, flattering glow that makes it a natural choice above gatherings. In apartments with modest ceiling heights, position it over a table rather than in open circulation space — the low-hanging cascade then becomes an asset rather than an obstacle.
