The Toldbod Pendant takes its name from the historic Toldbod quarter on Copenhagen's harbourfront, where Louis Poulsen was long based. Developed by the company's own design team from Poul Henningsen's PH Ellipse reflector studies, its spun-metal shade traces an elliptical curve that hides the bulb at normal sitting and standing angles, while the matt white-painted interior spreads a soft, even cone of light downward — careful optics disguised as effortless simplicity.
The restrained silhouette makes this pendant lamp remarkably easy to style: hang one low over a bedside table to free the surface, or run a row of two or three over a dining table or kitchen island for a calm rhythm of light pools.
