Vilhelm Lauritzen drew the VL Ring Crown in the 1940s for Radiohuset, the Danish Broadcasting House whose lighting he developed with Louis Poulsen — yet the design was never installed, waiting in the archives until its 2019 reintroduction. A crown of mouth-blown, three-layered opal glass shades gathers on a frame of satin-polished, untreated brass that develops a natural patina and grows more characterful with age.
The Ring Crown is at its best as a statement over a table: the three-shade version suits a compact dining table or kitchen island, while the five- and seven-shade crowns anchor a generous dining room or stairwell, each bulb glowing as a soft, glare-free point of light.
