Fun Pendant 10DM

The Fun 10DM is a large pendant with a four-ring chrome frame, part of Verner Panton's renowned Fun collection — a source of joy and inspiration since 1964. Its cascading seashell discs create a shimmering, elegant glow.

Verner Panton (1926–1998) was the restless experimenter of Danish design — a former assistant in Arne Jacobsen's studio who traded the cabinetmaker tradition for colour, new materials and immersive interiors. With the Fun series of 1964 he reached for something unexpectedly organic: thin discs of natural mother-of-pearl, cut by hand and suspended in overlapping tiers from simple metal rings. The discs fracture light like the surface of water, and because each shell is unique, no two lamps shimmer in quite the same way. They also move — the slightest current of air sets the discs swaying against one another with a soft, chime-like sound, making Fun one of the few lighting designs that appeals to the ear as much as the eye. The series is manufactured today by VERPAN, the Copenhagen company founded in 2003 exclusively to keep Panton's designs in authentic production; you can explore his lamps side by side in our VERPAN collection.

With four generous rings of cascading shell, the Fun 10DM is made for places where people gather and linger: above a dining table, a kitchen island or the centre of a living room. Its pearlescent glow is warm and flattering, ideal for long dinners and slow evenings. In compact city apartments, hang it over the table rather than in open circulation space — the cascade then reads as a chandelier-like centrepiece instead of an obstacle, and its reflective discs help bounce light around rooms that see little sun.
