EB 27 Buquet Table Lamp

Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet patented the EB 27 table lamp's flexible joints on 9 February 1927. TECNOLUMEN preserves the double-arm design and weighted reflector for near-endless adjustability, updating only the internal mechanics. Its silver- or nickel-plated brass finish highlights the Bauhaus / Art Déco styling, and each lamp is uniquely numbered.

Buquet's lamp is one of the quiet icons of late-1920s Paris. While the Bauhaus was rethinking lighting in Germany, the French craftsman Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet arrived at a strikingly similar conclusion from the workshop side: a task lamp should balance itself. His patented system of articulated arms and counterweights lets the EB 27 hold any position without screws or clamps — a small mechanical marvel that found its way onto the desks of leading architects and designers of the era. Today the lamp is produced by TECNOLUMEN of Bremen, the German manufacturer respected for its faithful re-editions of early modernist classics, which keeps Buquet's geometry intact while discreetly modernising the electrical components. Each piece is consecutively numbered — less a souvenir than a guarantee of provenance.

As a working object, the EB 27 remains remarkably practical a century on. The weighted reflector tilts precisely where you need it, making it a natural desk companion for long evenings of writing or screen work, and the slender double arm keeps the footprint small — welcome on the compact desks and dual-purpose dining tables of city apartments. Its polished metal surfaces catch and return ambient light beautifully, so even switched off it lends a workspace a certain Parisian discipline.
