The PH 3-2½ Bollard extends Poul Henningsen's hundred-year-old optical thinking to gardens, terraces and entrances. His three-shade system — gold medal winner at the 1925 Paris Exposition and the foundation of his lifelong work with Louis Poulsen — was conceived above all to control glare, which matters even more outdoors: the 30 cm top shade and 2½ lower shades fold light downwards onto the path in soft, overlapping layers while shielding the bulb from every angle of approach.
In practice it is as much about what you don't see — no hotspot in the eye as you walk toward the door, just an even pool of light on the ground. Line a path with two or three, mark a terrace edge, or let one double as a sculptural greeting beside the entrance. Pair it with the Arne Jacobsen collection outdoors or the Louis Poulsen collection indoors.
