Spiral Pendant SP2

The Spiral collection captures Verner Panton's experimental play with colour and form — how objects interact with their surroundings through reflection, sound and movement. The Spiral SP2 Silver/Gold is an XL ceiling pendant with two clusters of silver and gold spirals.

Verner Panton created the Spiral lamps in 1969, and they belong to the most theatrical chapter of his career — the era of immersive environments such as the Visiona installations and his celebrated interiors for the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg, where ceilings of shimmering spirals turned light into something closer to weather than furniture. Each wafer-thin coil catches the light source at a slightly different angle, so the lamp glitters and shifts as air moves through the room. The SP2 stacks two generous clusters into one vertical composition: the upper crown hands the light down to the lower one, creating a column of silver and gold reflections with true chandelier presence — yet without a single crystal or any of the formality. Today the series is produced under official licence by VERPAN of Denmark, the company founded to keep Panton's designs in authentic production; the whole family is gathered in our VERPAN collection.

With two light sources and an elongated silhouette, the SP2 is made for spaces with a little vertical drama: a stairwell, a double-height entry, or centred above a round or square dining table where its length reads as generosity rather than bulk. In compact city apartments it can stand in for both a chandelier and a piece of sculpture in a single ceiling point — keep the surrounding surfaces matte and calm so the spirals provide all the sparkle. It also pairs naturally with quieter designs from our pendant lamps in adjoining rooms, letting the SP2 remain the unmistakable centrepiece.
