TLWS 05 Table Lamp

Walter Schnepel's 2005 TLWS 05 combines laminated linen shades in five colours with a nickel-plated brass frame. Decorative yet true to TECNOLUMEN's straightforward elegance, it comes in two sizes, each giving diffused, ambient light ideal for side tables or bedrooms. Every lamp is sequentially numbered and bears the TECNOLUMEN seal.

Walter Schnepel founded TECNOLUMEN in Bremen in 1980 to produce the first authorised re-edition of Wilhelm Wagenfeld's famous Bauhaus table lamp, and the manufactory has since become the guardian of an entire catalogue of modernist classics. The TLWS series, designed by Schnepel himself in the 2000s, shows what decades of that stewardship taught him: reduce a lamp to its essential parts, choose materials that age honestly, and let proportion do the talking. The TLWS 05 is the warmest member of the family — its laminated linen shade trades the cool precision of glass for the soft, textile glow of a drawn curtain at dusk, while the nickel-plated brass frame keeps the silhouette crisp. Five shade colours and two sizes make it the most personal TLWS as well. Linen filters light differently from glass or metal — warmer, dimmer at the edges, with a faint visible weave — which makes the TLWS 05 a natural bedside or living-room lamp rather than a task light. Use it where you want atmosphere: on a nightstand, a low sideboard, or paired in twos to frame a sofa or bed symmetrically, a trick that brings calm order to compact bedrooms.
