Fun XL Pendant 8DM

The Fun 8DM is an XL ceiling-mounted lamp with a long single-cluster configuration, part of Verner Panton's iconic Fun collection, a lighting masterpiece since 1964.

The Fun series is Verner Panton at his most poetic. Designed in 1964, it replaces the conventional lampshade with cascades of hand-cut mother-of-pearl discs, each suspended on its own small ring so that the entire surface can move. Lit from within, the nacre glows like candlelight multiplied; touched by a draught, the shells answer with a quiet chime. Panton — architect, provocateur, and a former collaborator in Arne Jacobsen's studio — used these lamps to dramatic effect in his interior commissions, and the large ceiling-mounted models remain the most theatrical members of the family. They are produced today by VERPAN, the Danish company devoted to manufacturing Panton's lighting designs.

The 8DM is the elongated format: a long cluster of shells running across the ceiling, lit by three bulbs for an even glow along its full length. That geometry makes it the natural partner for long dining tables, kitchen islands and counters, where it does the work of a row of pendants in a single coherent piece — while its ceiling-mounted construction keeps clearance generous even under modest ceiling heights. In open-plan apartments it can define the dining zone the way an architectural element would. Dimmable warm-white bulbs let it move from bright family dinners to low evening shimmer.
