Spiral Pendant

The Spiral collection captures Verner Panton's experimental play with colour and form, exploring how objects interact with their surroundings through reflection, sound and movement. The Spiral SP01 Silver/Gold is a large pendant of silver and gold spirals.

The Spiral family traces back to Verner Panton's spectacular interior installations of the late 1960s, when he filled entire ceilings with cascades of shimmering spirals to dissolve the boundary between lighting and architecture. Unlike a conventional shade, a Spiral pendant has no fixed surface at all: hundreds of suspended coils catch and scatter the light, stirring gently with every movement of air, so the fixture is never quite the same from one moment to the next. It is lighting as kinetic sculpture — an idea decades ahead of its time, and one that still feels contemporary today. The mixed silver and gold finish of the SP01 adds a second layer of play, cool and warm reflections mingling across the cascade. As a statement piece, the large Spiral earns a generous position: centred over a dining table, in a double-height stairwell, or in front of a window where daylight can animate the coils even when the lamp is off. It casts a soft, glittering light that flatters dinner guests rather than interrogating them, and the gentle motion gives a room a sense of life that static fixtures cannot match.
