The PH Septima, introduced in 1928, is one of Poul Henningsen's finest designs: seven delicate glass shades whose sandblasted and clear fields alternate from layer to layer, so the crown diffuses a soft ambient glow while throwing crisp, glare-free light downward. Wartime material shortages ended production, and for decades the Septima survived mainly in museums — its layered logic living on in the 1958 PH Artichoke — until Louis Poulsen returned it to production, each shade still finished by hand.
Few pendant lamps combine presence and transparency like the Septima: the glass keeps it visually light even at full size, defining a dining zone without walling off the room. Pair it with pale wood, linen and stone, and hang it where daylight can catch the glasswork. Discover more in our Louis Poulsen collection or browse refined pendant lamps.
